CES 2022 Update

Today is only the second official day of CES 2022 but there are already almost too many innovations to list! From cutting edge electric vehicles, the next generation of virtual reality, smart-home technology and of course, a completely OLED screen foldable laptop from Asus. This year’s convention has surpassed our expectations and it's only the second day!

Asus

ZenBook 17 Fold OLED

Let’s not save the best for last and dive right into this new Asus laptop that the company is calling the “world's first 17.3-inch foldable OLED laptop”. At first, in its unfolded format, the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED could pass for a regular tablet, but then, fans were amazed as the entire tablet folded into a fully functioning laptop! The bottom part becomes a touchscreen keyboard, or you can simply attach the magnetic, physical keyboard directly onto the bottom screen for a true laptop experience. This 17.3 inch screen boasts a 0.2 ms response time and resolution of 2560 x 1920, so you can make the most of its impressive display. The integrated ScreenXpert 2 software allows the user to organize any apps wherever they please across the entire screen, taking full advantage of this device’s versatility. With the newest 12th Gen Intel Core processor, 16GB RAM and 1TB of SSD storage we don’t know what else you could ask from a laptop. Although Asus has not yet released a price point for the ZenBook 17 Fold, we do know it will be released around mid-2022. Check out it's promo video below:

ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition UX5401

Another very cool feature from ASUS is the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition UX5401. This out-of-this-world laptop was designed in honor of the 25th anniversary of Asus sending its first laptop into space. The Space Edition of course has a striking space-theme throughout its construction including exclusive Zero-G Titanium color finish and an OLED panel on the outer cover that displays personalized text and visuals. Although it packs a lot of power with it's 12th Gen Intel Core processor and 45W CPU performance, it's still super thin and weighs in at just 1.4 kg making it perfectly portable.

Electric Vehicles

With the eyes of the world focused on the future of electric vehicles (EVs), it's no surprise that many companies including GM, Mercedes, BMW, and Sony have made exciting announcements about their ventures in automobiles at CES.

When we think of Sony, cars are not exactly the first thing that comes to mind, but this may change in the future as their new EV company, Sony Mobility will be launched this spring. The new Sony Vision-S 02 is a EV similar aesthetically to the Tesla Y, with a huge panoramic screen complete with a super high-tech entertainment system where passengers can enjoy Playstation Games. Sony plans to release this EV commercially in the near future, so we don’t have all the details now, but we do know it features 536HP AWD.

One of the most striking vehicle reveals from CES 2022 has to be the fully electric BMW iX that changes color. That’s right, this innovative SUV features E Ink panels that contain clear capsules which bring specific colors to the surface when a current is passed through them. This has a plethora of benefits including easily locating your car in a parking lot as well as potentially displaying important info on the outside of the car such as charge status. For now, the demos show the iX changing from white to black, but we are sure to see many color possibilities in the future. Other groundbreaking vehicles include the Mercedes Vision EQXX which features a range of over 620 miles on a single charge, leading the entire market in this category.

Smart Home

From smart TV’s to smart refrigerators, our homes are becoming more intuitive all the time. At CES this year we are seeing some exciting developments that could revolutionize the way we live. First of all, forget about searching for new batteries for your dead remote, Samsung has created a remote control that recharges via your Wi-Fi router. And if for any reason your Wi-Fi router isn’t working, simply place the Eco Remote under a light source to charge it via solar power. We definitely think your home should be a sanctuary, and apparently Kohler agrees as they have unveiled a new smart tub. The Kohler PerfectFill automatically fills your tub to your ideal emperature and water level so you can do other tasks while it's filling or even come home to a perfect bath. There's also a smart door from Masonite that combines a surveillance system and smart lock that's connected to your home power system so you’ll never have to worry about charging it or replacing batteries.
