Reading time: 1.5 minutes
During this period of e-learning, keeping your computer efficient is one of the most important things to do to make sure you can properly focus, concentrate and be efficient. Slow computers, tons of tabs… are the most counterproductive way to work.
Everybody wants a fast and responsive computer. You do not want to see a white page taking forever to load, not responding, or partially loading.
Here are a few tips to make the most of your days.
Avoid having many tabs open in your browser. Two main reasons for that…. First, because it will be extremely difficult for you to find what you are looking for. Secondly, the usage of memory will increase a lot and leave less free memory for the other applications, so your computer will not be responsive.
Avoid having many applications running at the same time. This has a big impact on your computer speed because it consumes a lot of memory. Your computer will slow down and some applications may crash.
Check also the numbers of programs which are starting automatically when your PC is booted, or you logged in. Nowadays, more and more applications offer the option to automatically start at login such as Skype, antivirus, ... this will also slow down your machine.
Do not install more than one antivirus on your machine. The main reason behind that is if both are tasked with securing your computers, they may also slow down your computer a lot, because they will spend time double scanning each file and each other, thinking that the other software is a virus.
Reboot your computer from time to time, it will help to clean-up the system and start fresh.
All those tips should help you experience the best on your day-to-day journey, and prevent a laggy video streaming during your session.
We also recommend checking your internet connection. Specifically, the upload speed. The upload speed is usually the one impacting your experience.
