What is the Right to Repair?
In the United States, the right to repair is supported by federal and state laws, such as the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which regulates consumer product warranties. Similar provisions also exist for vehicle owners.

It wasn't until 2022 that New York enacted the Digital Fair Repair Act, making it the first U.S. state to authorize a law on the repairability of consumer electronics.
Other states will follow, such as Colorado and California.
